The
machine has been designed and developed to perform the abandonment and the recovery
of the pipeline into and from the sea.
This
operation can be necessary during the laying process, depending on the sea condition.
The
abandonment and the recovery of the pipeline is performed by the winch using
the winding system and a rope, that is connected through an abandonment/recovery
fitting to the pipeline end.
The
machine consists of the following main subassemblies:
-
structure
-
winding
system
-
foundation
-
motorization
-
electric
system
-
pneumatic
system
The
machine is powered by the following electrical motors:
The
pneumatic system powers the opening of the drum brakes.
The
machine is electronically controlled and managed, in order to guarantee the
safety of the operations; it can be commanded through a control desk.
The
machine can be operated both in the automatic and the manual mode.
Within
each operating mode it is possible to select a current or velocity sub-mode,
by which the operator sets the parameters of the motors that the on-board computer
takes as reference to control and regulate the winding system.
A
tensiometer assembly can be provided on request and installed to measure the
tension of the rope.
The
tensiometer is provided with a load cell the senses the rope tension. The signal
is converted to an analogue value by a digital amplifier, that sends it to the
control box. This signal is then compared to the set point that has been selected
by the operator to control the rope tension through the motors power.
Thanks
to the reduced and compact machine dimensions the 60 Tons A/R Winch can be supplied
within a dedicated container that provides sheltering both for the operations
and the outdoor storage.
