| This
equipment has been developed to perform the repairing of damaged sections
of pipelines. The current production cover a DN20"-DN26" pipe size,
but studies have been performed also for a different size range.

The
equipment is lowered to the bottom of the sea by installation modules after
that the damaged pipeline has been cut and the section has been removed.
The
system consists of the following major subassemblies
-
Two
end connectors that must be installed on the pipeline cut ends.
-
A
spool piece assembly that includes:
-
a telescopic coupling that allows the longitudinal adjustment to adapt the
length of the system to the gap between the two cut ends
-
two balls couplings that connect with the pipeline end connector and allow
a certain longitudinal misalignement.
-
two adapting pipes that can be welded between the tescopic coupling and
the ball couplings to roughly prepare the assembly length
The
installation of the equipment into the damaged pipeline is performed through
the forging of the two end connector onto each pipeline cut end. The spool
piece assembly is then inserted between the two end connectors and extended
until its ball couplings engage the end connectors.

The
operation is completed through the clamping of the ball coupling onto the
connectors and through the forging of the telescopic coupling inner and outer
parts, in order to make irreversible the installation
.
